Writestream Tuesday with John Spencer Dale

JohnSpencerDale

Please join me on Tuesday, February 25 at 1 p.m. Eastern when I’ll welcome another member of the CLFA to the show, author John Spencer Dale. Dale will discuss his book Regular Guy Syndrome: Surviving Sex and Socialism in America:

Regular Guy Syndrome: Surviving Sex and Socialism in America is a story about a man waking up one day and realizing how little he really knows.  Robert Goodwin paid scant attention to his father’s conservative rants, and even less to the liberal media.  Now, for the first time in his life, he decides he needs to pay attention to politics and current events, and learns he’ll eventually have to choose sides.

When I first approached John about being a guest on the show, he advised me to read his book first to determine if I still wanted to give him airtime. And mainly due to the timing of receipt, I did manage to read the whole thing over Christmas (my sincere apologies to the authors whose books I’ve only partially read so far — I promise once I finish Steps To Salvation I’ll have more time for book reviews). While I have high standards when it comes to how I conduct my own life, I’m far from a prude although I have to admit a few of Dale’s fictional sexual encounters were a bit off-putting. It’s not that the scenes were explicit exactly; just that some of the characters’ carnal preferences were truly repulsive. And yet, I do believe he had a purpose for infusing the novel with so much sexual indulgence.

In the end, the book does uphold not only traditional values in terms of marriage and monogamy it also celebrates the virtues of hard work, self-reliance, family, friendship and integrity in business. I am looking forward to hosting John to discover more insights about Regular Guy Syndrome, and his thoughts on independent publishing, social media marketing and the writing process.

Please tune in to Writestream Tuesday on February 25 at 1 p.m. Eastern, and feel free to call us during the live show at 347-945-7246.
