Resounding Books: “Common Ground on Common Core” Interview

Resounding Books founder Kirsten Lombard.

Yesterday on #Writestream, I had an in-depth interview with Resounding Books founder Kirsten Lombard on the topic of Common Core and the company’s first book release, Common Ground on Common Core: Voices from Across the Political Spectrum Expose the Realities of the Common Core State Standards.

While I’d been aware that this public-private partnership between Big Government and Big Business was bad for American kids, I had no idea how far and wide its tentacles have spread. After interviewing Kirsten, I realized Common Core is much worse than previously thought.

One of the many things I admire about Kirsten — aside from her diligence in researching and dedication to sharing the facts — is the way in which she reaches out to Americans all across the political spectrum to find areas of agreement on issues of utmost importance.

Click below to listen to the interview and share with your family, friends, and contacts. Visit Resounding Books to purchase Common Ground on Common Core, and to discover more about Kirsten and her company.

Writestream: Shatter the Narrative on February 10 – UPDATED with Archive

10273414_1488207624754603_2676597245357386743_n

As promised a few months ago, Shatter the Narrative will be a regular monthly feature on Writestream Tuesday in 2015. As culture warriors, one of the best ways we can create positive change is to take on the pervasive, destructive myths deliberately foisted upon our society by the left, with the intention of dismantling and destroying everything good, decent, and unique about American life. If you missed the inaugural broadcast, click here.

On Tuesday, February 10, CLFA members Jack July, James L. Young, Declan Finn, Marina Fontaine and Ms. Always Right will participate in a panel discussion eviscerating the following narratives:

  • Islam is a “Religion of Peace”
  • Gun Control Laws Stop Gun Violence
  • Republican = Conservative
  • “Southerners are Stupid”
  • The only way to achieve “racial equality” is through the State

During the live show, we welcome your calls at (347) 945-7246 and your presence in the chat room. Please be advised that during this particular episode, we’re focused exclusively on the topics above, so if you do call in, keep it relevant to the conversation. Unfortunately, there’s an endless supply of narratives in need of shattering, which is why “Shatter the Narrative” is now a regular, monthly feature. If you have a suggestion for a topic for an upcoming panel, please contact me here.

To listen online, click on this link to Blog Talk Radio Writestream Tuesday: “Shatter the Narrative”. Or to listen by phone, dial (347) 945-7246. We look forward to seeing you there!

UPDATE: Please note that the first narrative has been slightly amended per the suggestion of the mysterious and alluring Ms. Always Right, with the consent of the rest of the panel.

UPDATE 2: Missed the live episode? Click to listen. Many thanks to the panel and my producer, Snappperhead!

Happy Anniversary CLFA!

10273414_1488207624754603_2676597245357386743_n

Just over a year ago, my friend and fabulous writer/author Jamie Wilson added me to a new Facebook group –  Conservative Libertarian Fiction Alliance. And I am so thankful she did because I’ve not only developed wonderful friendships but also discovered a wealth of creative talent to interview on Writestream Tuesday. Eventually, my involvement in the CLFA led to a great new segment in the show’s second hour – Right Wing Riot – Public Service Satire featuring Scary Smart, Ms. Always Right, and The Prince of Whitebread.

And on Tuesday, December 16, I’ll welcome one of CLFA’s founders, Marina Fontaine, to the program to share her thoughts about the CLFA’s  purpose, growth, and goals for 2015. We’ll also delve into universal challenges facing independent authors like choosing the right platform for you book, managing expectations, and using social media for success. Other topics to be discussed include how to write an honest but constructively critical review for fellow indy authors, and how CLFA members manage to remain friends even when passionate thread topics become….well, passionate.

During the live show, we may even add to some of the gift-giving suggestions from the December 2 episode and welcome calls from CLFA members and Writestream listeners at (347) 945-7246.  After the first hour, stay tuned for the Right Wing Riot with Scary Smart, Ms. Always Right, and The Prince of Whitebread!

Author Daniella Bova on Steps To Salvation

STSCoverWEB

This latest five-star Amazon review from the author of Tears of Paradox, Daniella Bova, made my day:

In Steps To Salvation I learned a great deal about history. The book opens in the year 2412 in Africa, many years after a worldwide upheaval, “The Armageddon War.” The main characters are all fictional descendants of historical figures from the past and present day, including Adolph Hitler, Charles Manson, Hillary Clinton, George W. Bush and Debbie Wasserman Schultz.

The characters are vividly written. They’re so true to life that I found myself laughing out loud during certain scenes containing the fictional future descendant of President Bill Clinton. In addition to laughing, parts of what I learned made me extremely angry. This book was painstakingly researched. It included facts about world leaders of which I was unaware, even though I’m reasonably up to date on current events as a rule.

Another reader mentioned that Steps to Salvation would be a very good choice for a book club. I agree. Many people of different faiths and backgrounds could find plenty to discuss. Mr. Attia’s ideas are sometimes a bit surprising. I can’t say I agree with every single point he made, but I can and do respect anyone who’s been through a near death experience. Mr. Attia’s ideas for the betterment of society were incorporated in a fresh, engaging way in the Steps To Salvation.

Visit Amazon.com to read the full review and pick up a copy of Shlomo Attia’s book, available in Kindle and paperback. With the holidays coming up, it makes a great gift.
