Four Years of Writestream Radio

Four Years of Writestream Radio

Thanks to LinkedIn, I received a reminder that Writestream Radio is now  four years old. Between out-of-state visitors and Writestream Publishing projects, I’d forgotten all about it. It’s hard to believe, but at the time I was freelancing as a ghostwriter, copywriter, content writer and blogger. I thought an internet radio network would help my clients (and other authors) become more comfortable with discussing their books.

After publishing the first edition of Water Signs in 2008, I soon discovered that people were as interested in me as they were in my novel — which surprised me a little. That’s when I realized how critical it was for indie authors to put themselves out there in cyberspace and real life. Having spent the previous four years co-hosting a political show, I saw firsthand the power of internet radio to connect authors with their audience. And since many authors I knew had an aversion to public speaking, it also provided a non-threatening forum to discuss their work since it’s off-camera. (Ah, the days before Facebook Live 😉 ).

With that in mind, I contacted Lisa Tarves and John Gresham to ask if they wanted their own shows on the network. After they happily accepted, we began airing the Sunday of the first week of March 2013 with Just Believe with Lisa Tarves.

Sadly, our friend John Gresham passed away in July of 2016, but his memory and voice live on in the form of multiple excellent Military Monday broadcasts, which can be accessed on our Blog Talk Radio Show Page.

Today, our network broadcasts a variety of unique, uplifting, and informative programming:

Just Believe with Ilene Gottlieb ~ The Heart Healer

The Mentor In Me on Writestream Radio

Create Your Life with Tasha Chen

Partners in Crime with Sue Coletta and Kimberly McGath

The Formula with Jefferson Keith Langley

Love Liberty & Lip Gloss with Donna Lyons

Speculative Fiction Cantina with S. Evan Townsend

Get Fit Feel Fabulous with Britt

After a several month hiatus, I’ll be back to weekly hosting on Wednesdays at 11 AM Eastern, beginning on April 5 with The Writestream with Daria Anne. Write. Publish. Succeed. And soon, Kris Kees will be hosting a weekly money/finance program, Kees to Invest. I’ll post more details as we get closer to his debut.

Thank you to all of our exceptional hosts and listeners. We appreciate you and look forward to many more years of top-notch broadcasting!

Writestream Radio Veterans Day Tribute Replay with John D. Gresham

Tune in for a Writestream Radio Veterans Day Tribute Replay with John D. Gresham and me from November of 2014:

Writestream Radio Network Salutes United States Veterans!

Tune in for a replay of Writestream Radio’s Veterans Day Tribute, co-hosted by the late John D. Gresham and Daria Anne. John and Daria talk with Lt. Neal Zimmerman and journalist Donna Lyons about the Special Operations Warrior Foundation, how to spot a reputable military charity, and the biggest issues facing our veterans today.

Thank you, United States Veterans…we appreciate you!

Since I co-founded the network in early 2013 with Lisa Tarves, John and I had hosted a Veterans Day episode every year. I’ll admit, with everything else going on  (including training and adding several guest hosts for the Tuesday slot), I neglected to plan for 2016. However, running this past episode is a fitting way to honor both my friend John Gresham’s memory and the lives of United States veterans.

In this broadcast, Lieutenant Neal Zimmerman joins us to discuss the excellent work of the Special Operations Warrior Foundation and current Love Liberty & Lip Gloss host Donna Lyons talks about serious issues facing veterans, including suicide, and how everyday Americans can help.

RIP John D. Gresham

Author/military historian John D. Gresham.

I am long overdue in publishing this post, although I did manage to write about it on My good friend, military historian, journalist and author John D. Gresham passed away on July 2, 2016. Defense Media Network posted a nice tribute, which you can read here.

In a testament to the power of social media, John and I originally met on Twitter sometime in 2010 and became fast online friends. Although we didn’t always see eye-to-eye on current events (I’m a constitutionalist and John was more of a devoted Republican), we always respected each other’s opinions. With his great sense of humor, he could diffuse any conversation that got a bit too heated by reminding me  that he was my “Pet RINO” — and that everybody needed one.

When Lisa Tarves and I founded the Writestream Radio Network, I immediately thought of John when we decided to include a military show. Knowing he had been featured on multiple high-profile documentaries on major cable networks, I was a little nervous about approaching him. But I soon discovered my fear was unfounded when John enthusiastically accepted the invitation. And for the next three-plus years, he poured his heart and soul into producing a quality Military Monday show every week, in spite of his busy schedule.

You can still catch all of his archived episodes by visiting our show page at

Although we’d been informed of John’s three-month battle with a serious health issue, we kept it quiet and refrained from posting anything on social media, out of respect for his family and his own fierce desire for privacy pertaining to personal news. We’re grateful for the time we spent with him and will always remember him fondly.

Well done, my good and faithful servant. We’ll miss you, but trust that you are in a much better place. Godspeed.
