An Hour In The Chapel

For Americans who cherish individual liberty and revere the United States Constitution, today is a Day of Mourning. While media sycophants, self-absorbed celebrities and the rest of the progressive lot celebrate Barack Obama’s inauguration — the kick-off of the final phase of his “fundamental transformation” of a once great, independent nation into just another failed European-style welfare state, the rest of us grieve for our country even as we resolve to fight against the naked tyranny the next four years portend.

As one of the informed American citizens who knows we can look FORWARD! to — among other things — higher taxes; persistent unemployment; skyrocketing health insurance premiums; diminishing quality and rationing of health care; emboldened and increasingly powerful enemies like the Muslim Brotherhood and Al-Qaeda; an ever-shrinking and weakened US military; and the near-death of the American work ethic, I decided to spend an hour in the chapel at a local church.

While I prayed for the USA’s protection and for the millions of patriots working diligently to lead our country away from socialism and back toward its founding principles, I also asked for forgiveness. It seems almost obscene to ask God’s blessings upon a country that has sanctioned the taxpayer-funded murders of 55 million innocent unborn babies since 1973, while simultaneously quoting the Declaration of Independence:

 

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

 

Life. Liberty. Pursuit of Happiness.

Seems to me the most basic right is the right to life, which has been so brutally slaughtered on the altar of convenience, promiscuity and self-centeredness. Which is why we as conservatives must engage the culture if there’s any hope of saving this country from economic, moral and spiritual destruction.

As I sat there in the chapel, staring at the gorgeous stained-glass windows, I thought about how this administration is doing its damnedest to push people over the brink — an effort that has seemingly increased tenfold since the horrific crime that took place in Newtown, Connecticut in December. No, they never let a crisis go to waste, thus the sickening exploitation of dead children in the name of gun control by executive fiat before those tiny bodies were even removed from the scene of the slaughter. Breathtaking (literally) that the man who voted against the Born Alive Infant Protection Act FOUR times has the sheer audacity to proclaim his devotion to the cause of protecting innocent children while exhorting Americans to do the same.

“The issue is never the issue. The issue is always the revolution.”

This little mantra concerns me enough to keep me awake at night, especially after reading The Harbinger. It’s clear to anyone paying attention that the radicals in our government are trying to incite violence from the half of the country that still believes in the principles of our founding documents, the better to crush us once and for all and complete their destruction of “the last, best hope on earth”. Those of us who “bitterly cling to our guns and our religion” are an obstacle to their utopian statist dreams of centralized control over the unwashed masses.

I prayed today that in spite of our rotting culture with its evil disregard for the sanctity of innocent life and the defenseless unborn, God would still be forgiving. That He would still be willing to protect us from evil from without and within, acknowledging the millions of decent, upstanding patriots who are unapologetic about their faith and willing to do everything in their power to restore the USA to its former greatness as a shining city on a hill. And I asked for guidance as an individual engaged in this cause, as to how I might make the best possible contribution.

This is how I spent a Day of Mourning — Inauguration Day — January 21, 2013. I have not, nor do I plan to turn on the television today. I won’t listen to news coverage on the radio or read about it on the internet. I already know what took place today in Washington, D.C. And unlike a vast swath of the electorate that no doubt took it all in and gushed about the “historic” nature of it all, I also know what it means for our future.

To quote Thomas Jefferson, “I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just.”

RIP American Republic

For a variety of reasons including but not limited to now-resolved computer issues, it has taken me two days to publish my post-Election Day thoughts, although I let loose in a series of Facebook status updates in real-time the other night:

Our once great Republic has crumbled. I am especially ashamed of my gender and its obsession with abortion. God help us all, this country cannot survive its fools.

Thanks to the uninformed and others obsessed with Roe v Wade, we will all find out what Comrade Obama meant when he told the Russian President he will have more “flexibility” after the election.

Connecticut has forfeited the right to call itself the Constitution State since it has fallen so far from Constitutional principles. 92% for Obama??

Add Pennsylvania to the list of states that has completed abandoned its proud history in the fight for independence

If you voted for Obama, shame on you! You have aided and abetted the destruction if our once great Republic. Just wait til you find out how expensive “free” healthcare is, and how bad the forthcoming sequestration will be for our economy. Thanks for nothing freeloaders.

Although I’ve had 48 hours to allow the horror to sink in, it has only increased with hindsight, exacerbated by the exit polls, demographic breakdown and news like this from Michelle Malkin, which was entirely expected:

This is just the beginning.

Speaking of depressing, 67% of single women voted with their Lady Parts this time around:

Two-thirds of single women voted for President Barack Obama on Tuesday – showing that unattached women are a powerful Democratic voting bloc.

These women were galvanized not only by traditional “women’s” issues such as birth control and abortion rights, but also by Obama’s jobs message and health reform, analysts say.

NBC News national exit polling shows that 67 percent of unmarried women said they voted for Obama. That’s in line with the 2008 election, when 70 percent of single women helped usher the president into office. This proves it wasn’t a single-election phenomenon: unmarried women have solidified into a powerful voting force, experts say.

Seriously ladies (and I use the term loosely), “liberation” now means total dependency on Daddy Government? And are you really that gullible to believe the propaganda that Mitt Romney was going to take away your birth control and reverse Roe v. Wade (even though no President has the power to overturn a Supreme Court decision)?

These are of course, rhetorical questions. Because the cold, hard data proves these ill-informed and easily led Julia’s know nothing about the Obamacare bill and its deleterious effects on our economy (already happening as small biz owners being laying off employees to stay under the 50 employee threshold) and our healthcare (IPAB, excess taxes on medical device manufacturers, etc). But hey, reading is hard. Informing yourself is square. Voting on facts is passe. Just ingest the propaganda the left spews out and live the life of government-dependent Julia, whose cradle-to-grave existence is funded by people who do get off their butts and work for a living.

To say I am ashamed of my gender would be a HUGE understatement. You haven’t come a long way, baby. In fact, you’ve regressed pathetically far from the era of the American pioneer women and the European immigrants of yesteryear who came to this country in search of OPPORTUNITY, not government largesse. Once upon a time, it was considered shameful, or at the very least, a temporary if necessary evil to accept food stamps, welfare and other government goodies. Back in the day, private citizens, private charities and religious institutions bore the responsibility of helping others back onto their feet after a major setback or unforeseen circumstance.

But now, instead of “I am woman, hear me roar”, apparently the motto is “I am woman, hear me whine” — oh and, give me lots of free birth control and abortion on demand, even if it violates the religious liberties of my employer (should I actually work for a paycheck).

For shame. And just one stark example of the inherent connection between morality and economic prosperity. In a society that deems generational welfare an acceptable career choice while simultaneously demonizing those who do produce, i.e. business owners (as evidenced in movies, TV, music, etc), it’s no wonder half of the electorate — including single women — voted for more dependency at the expense of national security and prosperity.

Our once proud Republic, founded by courageous patriots like Patrick Henry, whose motto was “Give me liberty or give me death” has been destroyed by fools whose motto has transformed into “Give me free stuff”. Sad, pathetic, depressing.

I weep for my country as I realize we have selfishly squandered the beacon of liberty our Founders risked their very lives to secure. Yes, I will keep fighting but I fear that the battle may not be won when only half of us actually understand that the United States of America and its watershed document, the US Constitution, cannot be upheld and preserved by a nation of freeloaders but only by a moral and religious people as noted by Founding Father John Adams.

If I didn’t believe their souls were enjoying the blessings of the afterlife in the presence of God, I’d be inclined to think our Founders were turning over in their graves. Shame on my fellow countrymen — and fellow members of my sex — for destroying everything they worked so hard to secure, the greatest nation the world has ever known.

Worth reading today: From Us, the Bitterati by Jay Nordlinger. It’s a little long but Nordlinger eloquently speaks for all of us who love our freedom and anxiously await the forthcoming pain of a second Obama term.

And ladies, believe me, there will be pain — lots of it. I hope the “free” birth control was worth it. Thanks for nothing.

Happy Restoration of the Republic Day!

Grace Community Church in Boca Raton, site of my vote for Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan.

Picked up a patriot friend who votes at the same precinct in East Boca Raton around 9 a.m. this morning. Very pleased to report a strong presence of Romney-Ryan supporters (along with other GOP candidates on the ticket) in a line that moved fairly quickly. Yes, I did notice a few Obama voters (as evidenced by their facial expressions and/or Obama swag) but by and large, the energy was definitely on the RR side. On a positive note, no one had an issue with producing valid photo ID and the election workers were courteous and organized.

After we voted, Carole and I hung out for a while on the corner, waving our Romney-Ryan signs at passing cars — most of which honked their approval, along with the occasional finger from the hopelessly devoted to Barack crowd.

Also heard from three family members in suburban Philadelphia who all reported long lines and lots of enthusiasm for our side. To use my mother’s term, the atmosphere in West Chester, PA was “electric” for Romney, with 25 people phone banking to remind people to get out the vote. She noted that in 2008, there were only four people doing that on behalf of John McCain. In Radnor Township, my brother Mark was patiently waiting in a long line, where he happily remarked that in a dramatic turn of events from just four years ago, most voters were there to support Romney. And in Springfield, my sister Carolyn reported that the extremely long lines were setting a record for turnout, according to a good friend of hers who is a committeeman with the local GOP. She also sadly expressed her disappointment that members of her law firm, which exists to defend doctors against malpractice suits, were mostly voting for Obama.

After the vote, sign waving.

“Don’t they understand that if we don’t repeal Obamacare, most doctors are going to retire and we’re going to be out of work?” she asked rhetorically. It’s a sad state of affairs when ostensibly smart, accomplished people can be so woefully uninformed when it comes to making a decision as important as choosing the next President of the United States. I am just praying that all of these anecdotes amount to a huge victory for freedom not only in Pennsylvania but in enough states to elect Mitt Romney in a landslide.

Let’s take the first step to restoring our Republic, patriots — vote Romney/Ryan 2012!
