Road To Repeal Rally
Although I was (disappointingly) unable to attend myself, I watched the entire Road to Repeal Rally today in D.C. on C-SPAN. In addition to finding new inspiration in the stirring speeches offered by such conservative influencers as Seton Motley, Phil Kerpen, Sonnie Johnson, Herman Cain and Dr. Gina Loudon (whom I also discovered is an adoptive mother to a little boy with Down syndrome), I also came away with a renewed determination to help ensure that the GOP challenger to Barack Obama is NOT Mitt Romney. Note: For a full list of speakers, visit the Road to Repeal site.
How can we possibly mount a credible and effective campaign against socialized medicine with a candidate who imposed the blue-print for Obamacare at the state level? What happens when Obama congratulates Romney during a debate for employing the same adviser, Jonathan Gruber, to craft his anti-Constitutional mandated healthcare system?
And while there’s been much chastising of Rick Santorum by conservatives for simply and correctly making the point (as he’s been doing all along on the campaign trail) that in many ways Mitt Romney and Barack Obama share the same progressive philosophy — best exemplified by their support for socialized medicine, but also reflected in other policies and rhetoric – today’s rally ought to be a clarion call for every citizen who rejects big government statism to do everything in their power to prevent Mitt Romney from getting the nomination. (For the record, I am sick to death of the “B-b-but Romney is better than Obama argument; can’t we do better than that?)
I am praying hard that grassroots activists can succeed in nominating a real conservative over the Etch-A-Sketch candidate. And for anyone interested in learning the truth about Rick Santorum, I highly recommend a visit to the Lisa Graas website, where I found this damning video of Romneycare:
Memo to GOP: This is not a monarchy.
UPDATE: Santorum wins big in Louisiana!
